Life time student of Wado Kai Karate. Kyoshi Lou studied under the tutelage of the late Grand Master Masaru Shintani. He was one of the first students of Grand Master Shintani to receive his Black Belt in the Southern Ontario Region. He has been studying Wado Kai Karate for over 40 years and is currently the Chief Instructor for the YMCA Karate Program in Hamilton, Flamborough and Burlington. He has been in charge of this program for the past 18 years. He is also the founder of the North American Wado Kai Karate Association (NAWKKA).
In 2004 for his contribution to the Martial Arts he was inducted into the South African Black Belt Hall of Fame as a Gold Class 1 inductee. He has students who follow him from several different continents and teaches some real world class students. He also oversees the operation of the South African Wado Kai Karate Association which is run and operated by one of his long time student Shihan Terrance Bosch.
With the assistance of Shihan Jeff Burroughs members from the YMCA Karate program have even achieved the honour of competing for the Canadian National Karate Team (WKA).
Kyoshi recently celebrated his 71st birthday and is still actively training in karate.

What inspires him to continue with the Martial Arts is the success and achievements of each student that follows his teachings.
